Nigerian faces death for 86 wives

Nigeria's Islamic authority has told the man who has 86 wives to choose only four and repent within three days or else he will be sentenced to death.
The Jamatu Nasril Islam (JNI) passed their verdict on Mohammed Bello Abubakar, 84, according to Sharia law.
This comes two weeks after the Nigerian press and the BBC reported on the case.
Talking to the media then, Mr Abubakar challenged Muslim scholars, saying there is no punishment stated in the Koran for having more than four wives.
Yes 86 wives is a bit much, but to kill him for it? I'd think just having that many wives would kill a man!

MY OPINION:
Don't know... Let have a little recapitulate of his relationship with the 86 women in Islamic law, shall we? If only four can be his wives, what was the other 82? His mistresses? concubines? girlfriends? If he had sex with them (and obviously he did) what offence would it be in Islamic law? Nothing? Having sex with other women when married isn't allowed in Islam. It's called adultery. Since Islamic law states, if he is Muslim and follows it, that he can only have four legal wives. The others, unfortunately are not.
Anonymous, you are assuming that I agree with this part of Islamic law, which I do not! It is ridiculous to me that he cannot make a choice for himself. Islam treats everyone like they can't do anything for themselves, it has to tell them what/how to do everything.
